What does a semicolon tattoo mean? Amy Bleuel fought against mental illness and depression throughout her life. In fact, she lost her father to suicide some time ago. That spurred Bleuel to create Project Semicolon in 2013. The project started as a way of honoring her father, and now it symbolizes hope for a countless number of people. Project Semicolon’s website makes a simple statement on this punctuation mark. The semicolon tattoo meaning: It states that the optional semicolon continues a sentence rather than ending one like an abrupt period. Therefore, each human being is the author that chooses to keep the sentence (life) going on. Many individuals struggling with depression, self-harm and other ailments can embrace the semicolon. They can relate to the sentence-ending (life-ending) period, too. #DepressionIsNotAjoke #MentalHealthAwareness #Hope #semicolontattoostories #WhatitReallyMeans

What It Really Means: Recuse
Once used as a weapon against others, the word “recuse” has turned on those who wield it.
“Recuse” derives from the Latin “recusare,” meaning “to make an objection against,” “reject,” or “be reluctant to.” The English language adopted “recuse” in the late 14th century, giving it the meaning “to reject another’s authority as prejudiced.”
By the 17th century, it had become a legal term. Recusing meant challenging or rejecting a judge or juror as being unqualified.
In the 20th century, it boomeranged. “Recuse” started to mean “to disqualify oneself as a judge.”
In legal contexts, you can still recuse (that is, challenge) someone else as a judge. But in common usage, you can recuse only yourself — remove yourself from acting as a judge or other authority figure, or from any situation where you’re expected to render an opinion or take an action.
News reports say President Trump disagreed with U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s decision to recuse himself from any investigations involving the 2016 presidential campaign. The Artisanal Grammarian suspects that Mr. Trump much prefers the older versions of recusing. — Jeff Sessions is sworn in at the beginning of his confirmation hearing after being nominated as attorney general; photo by the Office of the President-elect (CC BY 4.0), via Wikimedia Commons

Living with the person you love is not what everyone thinks it is. It’s not waking up early every morning to make breakfast and eat together. Its not cuddling in bed together until both of you peacefully fall asleep. It’s not a perfectly neat home and a homemade meal every night. It’s fights about who has to put the dishes away. It’s screaming and crying because you’ve had a hard day and came home to the laundry not being done & you both need something out of the dirty clothes pile in a few hours. It’s your love waiting until you get into the shower to decide they need to take a crap. It’s falling asleep on opposite ends of the bed, because one of you is too tired to move. It’s waking up to snoring and wanting to smother them with a pillow but you don’t cuz you would miss them. It’s sleeping beside the person who takes all of the covers & forces you to the edge of the bed. It’s slammed doors and harsh words. It’s wondering if you’ve made the right decision. It is, despite of all of those things, the one thing you look forward to every day. It’s coming home to the same person everyday that you know loves and cares about you. It’s laughing about random stupid things, It’s about eating the cheapest and easiest meal you can make and sitting down together at midnight to eat them because you both work crazy hours. It’s when you have an emotional breakdown and your love lays on the floor with you and holds you and tells you everything is going to be okay, and you believe them. It’s when “netflix and chill” literally means you watch netflix and chill. It’s seeing your partner in the worse condition & still looking at them the same. It’s about still loving someone, even though they make you absolutely insane. Living with the person you love is countless fights about absolutely nothing, but it’s also having a love that people spend their whole life looking for. It’s not perfect and it’s hard, but it’s amazing and comforting and the best thing you’ll ever experience.
