How foodies have fun!
Welcome to the start of our “what does fun mean to you” series!
We will be interviewing San Franciscans to see what fun means to them and where they go, shop, eat and drink to make this fun happen.
Our first local interviewee is our friend Shawna Sund who not only is a serious foodie, basketball lover and drink connoisseur, she is also a senior marketing account manager at Andrew Freeman & Co.—one of the top US restaurant marketing firms. So, how does someone immersed in the food and drink world have fun? Let’s find out!
What does fun mean to you Shawna?
Fun means laughing with my friends around a table with fantastic food and cocktails. Trying new restaurants and watching basketball are also in the top spots.
So, where do you go for fantastic food and cocktails?
I love the cocktails at Jasper's and Tradition, but I love going out on Haight too. When I go there, I stick to beer and shots unless I am at Alembic. For food, where to start… I love going out and eating new things-There is a fantastic Russian bakery by my house called Cinderella Bakery, they have amazing pastries. Some of my favorite places are Nopalito, Locanda and Shabu Shabu!
Basketball, who do you cheer for and where?
I’m a Phoenix Suns fan and Kezar (Pub) is my favorite spot to go watch the games.
I know this must be hard, but what’s your favorite restaurant and your favorite dish?
My favorite restaurant this week is Gitane. Try the suckling pork confit! I did just have the sweetbread McNuggets from TrickDog and they were life changing. They had a sweet and sour dipping sauce that was amazing! Obviously I am meat lover! But I also love the mushroom dumplings at E&O Asian Kitchen.
When not exploring the food scene, how do you spend a day?
I spend a sunny day running to the beach, stopping for my favorite local coffee and then eating brunch outdoors.
