#what a ... mess

background 

born the grandson of legendary journalist rita skeeter only a year before the battle of hogwarts ( if i did my math correctly - i probably didn’t ) it’s no surprise that he inherited his grandmother’s...curiosity let’s call it to be polite.

he never had a father figure around growing as a kid, never knowing who his father even was, and frankly, he never cared. his mum was just enough for him, and believe me when i say he ADORES his mother + grandmother 

anyways, he had a great childhood and from a young age, his grandparents were heavily involved and when his mother was out of town for work and whatnot, he spent his years on their farm where he would run about, investigating anything and everything he could

and then of course he attended hogwarts and to his mother’s surprise, he was sorted into slytherin ( she was convinced her son would be in ravenclaw tbh ) and after the war? slytherin wasn’t necessarily the best house to be sorted in, but he frankly did not care. he was proud of it tbh

also not gonna front, he most likely was a Little Shit at hogwarts, causing all sorts of problems in class, thinking he was smarter than the professors bc of all the reading he had done in his spare time ( he most definitely said “well i am smarter than you, professor” a couple times )

i can also see him getting into a bunch of fights, maybe he was pressing too hard in some situations, wanting to know the scoop but also he wouldn’t take any type of slander about the people / things he cared about. someone said something about his house? he’d throw a quick, harmless lil hex. but if someone said something about his family? he’d throw hands on SIGHT. 

anyways, after hogwarts, ofc eddie followed his grandmother’s + mother’s footsteps and became a reporter at the daily prophet. he wasn’t in the gossip column like rita, but he became moreso of an investigative journalist. so if something went on and there wasn’t a lot of news about it but there should have been, you bet eddie was around there somewhere with a quill and paper

fast forward to now, and he’s still being a lil shit, bothering people for the inside scoops of situations, and he’s charismatic, so so charismatic and he just ... uses that to get what he wants most of the time
