So the wild thing about those center consoles in the Braniff planes in the 60s is that the tables swing back up to become middle seats?? Basically if the plane was empty enough you'd have this extra layer of privacy where the headrest of the middle seat swooped down to form a center console table like on a train or in some of those family van style SUVs (or like, a really fuckin' American La-Z-Boy couch).
If the plane got booked up, it swung right back up to being a regular middle seat! It'd be sick af if they still did on planes, but the idea of being on a flight that's SO CONSISTENTLY UNDERBOOKED you could build in middle seat destroyers is like... a sad sad memory of the past. (the horrible fuel-wasting past).
Anyway, get a load of how wide/spacious those fuckin' regular seats are. Dreamy sigh!! Something about that Braniff orange would drive me insane irl but damn if those seats don't look spacious
