Null is a faerie with a really bad sense of time. He came to Camille’s home when Odessa and Fawke were youngins (eight and twelve, respectively). Odessa met this pretty, androgynous faerie kid, and Null entertained her and was overall incredibly nice to her and Fawke. Thus, little Odessa ended up developing a crush on Null, and clung to him for the limited time he spent around the house. 

Now, Null doesn’t do well with staying in one place for very long and he has a horrendous sense of time. Eventually he moved onto somewhere else, promising to come back in a few years, and went to go continue his adventures around the globe!

But, as mentioned earlier, he has a really bad sense of time. He is gone for about eight years or so, and comes back to find Odessa at 17 and Fawke at 21, which throws him for a little bit of a loop because he didn’t quite realize how much time has passed. Regardless, though, he’s still super protective of Odessa and Fawke, and kinda marvels over how they’ve grown up. 

Odessa’s crush on Null... never properly went away, really. She still trusts him more than most people, even after the length of time that he was gone, and tends to go to him for problems when Fawke has his hands full. Null has gained a tendency of letting Odessa rant, talk to her until she gets tired, and then he takes her back to the house for the night. 

Now, their relationship...

Well, it’s established that Odessa has feelings for Null. Those never really go away. 

Null didn’t... quite have feelings for Odessa the first go-round. He had affection, sure, and he cared about her, but those feelings didn’t turn romantic until Null met Odessa the second time around. (It also felt a bit more appropriate because, while Null is immortal and could honestly change his appearance to match her age, he gets societal norms and wasn’t going to look at a literal child in any romantic light.)
