Weyward by Emilia Hart.
This was such a great book that just puts the horrors of being a woman into such beautiful words. I loved how all of them had a strong point into them. Altha's strong sense of justice, this is shown through out the book with both the trail, standing up for herself since she knows she did the right thing, and killing the man to serve justice for grace; Violet with her curiosity, without this constant string of questions she would have never made the life she did, she would have never stood up for herself, she would never would have found out she was a Weyward; and last, Kate with her independence. The first time we see Kate being independent it's her leaving Simon, it's her leaving an abusive relationship, however through out the book we learn that she's always been independent because she could never imagine herself leaning on anyone after her dads death. These girls however also shows the negatives with these attributes as a woman Altha, being outcasted and almost killed; Violet, being shunned from her family; and Kate; almost dies from a man being angry for her independence.
At the end of the book however Kate brings in the two of them and these attributes shown by the bugs and the birds both Violet and Altha coming into her.
I also love the way all three of these girls took on pregnancy. I feel you can not have a feminist book without the topic of pregnancy since for as long as history we have been seen as only baby makers. These three woman all took pregnancy in such different ways. Altha had a sense of duty almost in having a baby however she would never have a man by her side making her an out cast, Violet was not ready for a child showing us truly how young she was and how scared she felt, Kate took her independence and said 'I'm keeping my daughter! '
Overall I loved this book and def recommend it
