they were adorable, and the concept bighit gave them at the time made sense given their overall image. but now? they still have their cute boyish charm of course, but now they are fully allowing themselves to express more mature styles.

unfortunately in kpop, fandoms get hostile towards the idea of their faves growing past their innocent demeanor and excoriate them for expressing sexuality. kpop still very much holds a double standard when it comes to this: fans sexualize the artists very early and seem to enjoy sexy stage performances, yet find it intolerable if that expression of sexuality carries over into anything truly artistic or conceptual (it's worth noting women in the industry get the worst of this).

txt embarking on this name chapter project, which explores sex and sensuality, is just so clever and artistically executed and now we get this weverse con invitation cover right in our faces as another reminder that they are grown up and fully embracing it.

I don't think it's an accident at all that they chose to cover this performance in between albums. this is a big "yeah in case you didn't know our comeback was about sex now you know lol" and not only that, but they purposefully covered this song wearing skirts and not refining the choreography in a way that would make it more "masculine". In doing so, they're not just reinforcing the message that they are adults now and can do whatever sexual concepts they want, but they're also reminding everyone that they're constantly pushing the boundaries of what's normal in kpop in terms of gender expression and breaking taboos. I just. love them so fucking much.
