Chesterman Place by Griff Durant Via Flickr: Located at 100 West Franklin Street, Richmond, VA, the Italianate style, three stories town house has a bilaterally symmetrical facade with two polygonal bays flanking a small temple front portico entrance. The red brick has brownstone trim and capped by a heavily bracketed cornice. The front windows the side bays have been replaced by brownstone panels with a carved rosette in the center. Molded brownstone panels below the windows horizontally divide the bays into three parts. The home was built by Richmond businessman James B. Pace in 1875 - 77. In 1908 Wirt A. Chesterman, a local contractor, hired Aubrey Chesterman to design the renovation of the house into a luxury apartment house. VLR #127-0607 www.dhr.virginia.gov
