Fires.
So....I live in East Tennessee, and if you've been watching the news, you'll know that Gatlinburg has burned almost completely. Where I live is in danger if the fire spreads. I'm so scared and worried for my friends and family. Yesterday, it was raining ash at school. So I wrote a poem. A Fire of Disaster A Fire of Disaster I feel so numb......and it hurts. It feels like razor-edged pictures stabbing me through the chest. The weight of grief for those I never knew crushing my bones. The horrid realization that beautiful things people have built are being torn down by jagged orange fingers. The heartache for animals, scared and broken, rips me to shreds. The ash falling yesterday.....like snow, but a snow of impending death.
