Ok, i got an idea to bring up: Were-Moles.
Yes, i'm suggesting werewolves but moles. And i have a damn good reason to suggest it. And that is because i say it as a transformation is to dwarves, what werewolves are to us.
Dwarves are, in recent high-fantasy, a race that typically lives IN the earth. Y'know, just like moles. And typically, dwarves make tunnels. Like moles do. Except the dwarves do it for ores and gems, not just to escape mole crimes. Still though, were-moles in dwarven society sounds like a perfect concept.
"Did you hear about the recent tunnel collapse?"
"I heard it was another of those damned were-moles... beardless bastards."
"Hey now, i have a cousin who's a were-mole, and he's the best vein sniffer in Arag's Cavern!"
"Of course he is, everyone else can only smell singed nose hair!"
