the wellverse (which is what the fantasy!ponchoverse is now called because i said so). like, a good few centuries after yankee, after humans start spreading out across the remade world, not that far off temporally from urban playground -
a city is destroyed. when the storm winds die down and the bay is once more accessible, the fishermen and small-time traders that sail into its port find only rubble and corpses where there was once the largest market town south of the priestess’ city
in a corner of a ruined building, eight-year-old Metronome finds a girl a little younger than her curled up around a shining green piece of stone. she’s shuddering and shaking, has clearly been crying, so metronome wraps her up in her coat and slowly coaxes her into coming back to shore
the girl’s name is Fluorite. she says she has no memory of her life before now, especially not what happened to the city. metronome’s family takes her in, raise her as a foster daughter. she never remembers anything about her own family, or the city, or the storm that tore it apart, and when they find out that she can control the wind, they stop wondering about her past
years pass and the two girls grow. metronome adores the sea, and fluorite adores metronome, so when mets turns fifteen they buy a boat (it’s similar to the one cari and pats built, plus a thousand-odd years of technological advances, so it’s easy for two people to crew) and sail around the mediterranean-esque sea that’s the lifeblood of the local human civilisation. they explore old wrecks, fight pirates, watch sea monsters, and generally have adventures. around three years in, they get lost at sea and have to land in the ruined city
it’s completely covered in forest. there are vines crawling over the old buildings and animals making tracks where there used to be streets. metronome stares at the obviously ancient trees and wonders what in rangge’s name is going on. fluorite sighs, obviously steeling herself. “this way,” she says, and leads metronome deep into the city
near the edge of the city, at the base of the mountain, the storm left a crater. now the crater contains a massive tree. dangling from one of the lower branches, like a flower, or a fruit, is a boy around their age, with a green stone around his neck
“who...” metronome stammers, eyes flicking about the clearing. “how...”
“his name is Mirage,” says fluorite, taking a knife out of her pack. “help me get him down”
Metronome - female - human - 18 - ESFJ - A kind yet fierce young woman who grew up in and around ports, she makes it her personal mission to help the people no one else will.
Fluorite - female - storm (“you mean a storm spirit right?” “if that helps you”) - 17(?) - INTJ - She has been looking all her life for a way to fulfil her purpose, and now that she has one is discovering that she preferred the search. Her ability to focus is unrivalled.
Mirage - male-ish - forest - 16(?) - INTP - He is genuinely curious about the world outside the w e l l, but since it won’t be there for much longer is trying not to get too invested in it. For fun, he fits ecosystems together.
