hi there!! 19/F I'm very lucky to come from a financially well-off family, &though I try to be frugal personally bc I don't wanna be financially dependent forever, &I'm a theater major so I'm not gonna be making a lot, I recognize my economic privilege & the benefits it gives me. most of my friends don't have the same privilege however, and I always worry about walking the line between flaunting my privilege around them & pretending it doesn't exist. any advice on how to use my privilege wisely?
Hi there. I think it is good that it’s a good thing that you realise you’re well-off and you’re not taking it for granted. If you don’t want to show off / abuse said ‘privilege’, the best thing to do would be to recognise it and don’t mention it. The thing is you don’t have to pretend it doesn’t exist. You might worry that people will look at you different or you’d upset them because you’re more well off. I think that people doesn’t really care unless you’re trying to show off or trying to pity them. Other than that, I don’t think you should worry about it.Â
