If you saw my last post, you might be wondering why there were no photos of the tides coming in at @thehopewellrocks ... so here they are! This formation is called "Lover's Arch" .. you'll have to swipe right to see what happens when a couple gets too close to it! One of the other big attractions of Hopewell Rocks is the resident Peregrine Falcon family. I spotted one of the adults going to the nest. Because we were out of the Motel early, I needed one of my favourite @hornbyorganic bars to get me through the morning. The park has a great restaurant ... food was really good. We were to hungry for photos🤣🤣🤣 At the end of the day, we had dinner and ice cream at @wackywonderfulwaffles ... you've GOT to try this place. @coachsandybatten and I spent an entire day at @thehopewellrocks Provincial Park. Situated at the end of the Bay of Fundy and between the mouths of Petitcodiac River and Demoiselle Creek, this is one of the best places to watch the famous Tides of Fundy rise and fall. I checked the ride tables to see that low tide was at 12:20pm and high tide at 6:19pm, so we arrived at 8:30 to watch the tide go out ... stayed for low tide and then watched the tide come all the way back in. That day, the tide measured 30 feet! The famous rock formations show the effects of the massive tides... the seaweed line is the average high tide, such also coincides with the narrow "waist" of the flowerpot rocks. The upper part of the waist shows where the highest tides have worn away at the sand conglomerate rocks. One of the big advantages to arriving so early .. it was less people-y 😁😍🙃😉 we were able to walk around and take in the sites without dodging other tourists. The Petitcodiac is known as the "Chocolate River" because of the unique colour of the mud. It was surreal walking through these massive rock structures and watching the water recede. Even better was standing still and feeling the water rise up our legs so quickly. All of the flowerpots are named. The last image is the famous "Elephant Rock", which unfortunately fell due to natural causes a few years ago. If you go to New Brunswick, this is a must-see.
