General Philippe Leclerc in sometime in February - March 1941 in the Libyan desert, around the time of the Capture of Kufra, his most well known victory. Possibly after the capture, because of how wide he is smiling.
He is wearing what I have deemed his "weird uniform", it is a mix of several components that don't really go together, but he is seen wearing it in several photographs from that time. The reason is because after he escaped France in 1940, he went to a surplus store in London and got clothing suitable for being sent to Equatorial Africa.
I will post more pictures of this "weird uniform" and information about Kufra leading up to the anniversary of the battle.
