Okay, anybody following me probably knows that I’m asexual. This popped up earlier for me when I was searching for a pic of the asexual flag. And this pisses me off. I understand that, yes, every sexuality outside of hetero gets hate and lives through pain, but what makes your pain more valid than mine? Yes, I have the right to legally be asexual, but that is because asexuality widely believed to NOT EXIST. We are told that we are ill, or that we were damaged in the past, or that were lying about what we feel, or that we simply don’t know ourselves well enough to know what we want. Yeah, we hear all of those things, too. Hell, asexuality is still considered to be a SYMPTOM of mental and physical diseases. And while I know that not being allowed control of your own body is awful, at least you are accepted within the LGBT community. Asexuals aren’t! We aren’t considered part of the community, and yet we aren’t normal enough to be accepted by heterosexuals. We have to find our own support. It galls me that somebody who is having to fight for acceptance could be so close-minded. And we are portrayed in media. As being ill or lying. Every time. That bothers me. So, yes, I accept that you are in pain, but please understand that I am too.
