Top Tier: The Knight of Wands is a cavalier card, quite literally. It speaks of derring-do, of charging into battle, of a major move...but it also can mean impulsiveness, of going off half-cocked, of just running after some shiny new idea rather than committing to the more rewarding familiar.

In the Tarot Illuminati, the Knights are called “Princes,” and the Prince of Wands looks like Prince Ali Ababwa, a showy Arab horseman in a fiery multi-plumed turban, his horse rearing up in the bravest (most ostentatious) way. Verdant rolling hills, a castle in the clouds...

Whoa, guys, we got a badass over here!

Simultaneously, through that courage and daring, this card can take you to new heights. Often, if seeing this card makes someone ask about the possibility of a journey or change of scenery (or change of jobs, lovers, diets, etc), the mere presence of this card means that the answer is Yes, that journey was/is/will be of major import. Sometimes a headstrong decision can be worth it in the end. The Hero of Fire is all about “No Risk, No Reward.”

Middle Tier: Celebrity Birthdays today: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, David Beckham, Donatella Versace, Lily Allen. The least calm, paced group I’ve ever seen.

May 2 is also International Harry Potter Day, and what a Gryffindor card the Knight of Wands is: Bravery! Adventure! Decisive Action! Unapologetic! Apt to get into trouble!

Project Tier: No matter how overwhelming it gets, no matter how overwhelmed you have gotten, don’t give up the Project. 78 (+14) cards is a lot of cards. It’s a lot of writing. A lot of focus. A lot. It’s a lot.

And that cavalier attitude can be helpful when partnered with a voice of reason and resolve. (Bonus points if you can find a cavalier voice of reason who listens when you’re leveling them out and levels you out if you listen).
