@weepsmistake paged Kai Bartley for a Holiday starter
It wasnāt how they expected the holidays to go. But there they were, on a plane, travelling to Seattle for christmas. It was a surprise. impromptu on both parts. Kai wasnāt sure when they had decided to jump on a plane and surprise Amelia at christmas, but it happened.Ā
The flight was quick, so to speak. But the nerves built the closer they got to Seattle. Whilst Amelia and Kai had been taking things steady, Amelia had dropped plenty of hints that Kai should join her back home for christmas, only Kai had pretended that they needed to see their Mom.Ā
After collecting their bags and grabbing a taxi, Kai stepped into unfamiliar territory. The hospital was different, but they had been cooped up in a clinic for months now. Kai made their way to the front desk and asked for the office of Amelia Shepherd. Butterflies in their stomach they rode the elevator and hunted down the office, taking a few seconds to compose themselves before knocking on the door, smiling as they saw Amelia, her back to the door.Ā
āUmm...I was told to come here for a consult.āĀ
Somewhere in the hospital, Bailey was talking to Amelia. Somewhere in the hospital, his wife was in a coma. Everything had happened very suddenly. One minute he was stood facing Meredith, his hands in hers, sharing a kiss. The next he was walking away, following the voice that was telling him to do so. The crash of the waves against the shore made it impossible for him to truly hear it but soon the soothing sound of the ocean gave way to beeping. Beeping and voices. What had happened?Ā
A frown had formed on his face as an aching feeling overwhelmed his body. There was no pain, just aching all over. Voices began to fill the room.Ā āDerek, can you hear me?āĀ He recognised that voice. Bailey? It sounded muffled though. Another deeper voice came through too.Ā āVitals look good. Heās just...waking up. Just like that. Heās just waking up.āĀ He had slowly opened his eyes before shutting them again. It took him a few minutes before he tried to open them again. His eyes searching the room until they landed on the two people he had heard speak. Bailey and Webber.Ā
That had been that morning. Now Derek sat upright, oxygen over his face to help him breath a bit better after having a drop in stats. He had been briefly updated on everything and he had been told that his wife was in a coma. The news didnāt come as much of a surprise to him. He had seen her on the Beach. He knew she was okay. He had asked to see his sister which sparked the conversation Bailey was now having with her.Ā
Bailey had been stood by his bed when she made the phone call.Ā
āAmelia, hey.ā Baileyās hand had reached out for Derekās, he could just hear Ameliaās voice over the phone.Ā āNo no...everything is fine. Nothing has changed with Meredith. I just need you to come in for a bit. Is Link at home with the kids? Great. Great. Can you meet me in my office in...ā She looked down at her watch, calculating how long it would take Amelia to get herself sorted.Ā āAn hour? Great. Iāll see you then.āĀ
An hour was too long. But Derek had sat and talked with Bailey, he had gone through all the Neurological tests and had been taken for a CT scan. He now sat in his room alone, waiting. It was the sound of the hand on the door handle that caught his attention. He looked over, seeing Bailey first who stepped in to give way to his sister. A small smile formed on his lips and her name came out as a single breath.Ā āAmy.ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā THE WAITING game was always the hardest for the blonde but, thankfully, who they were waiting on wasnāt a family member of hers or from the team. It was the patient they had brought with them from the scene and the blonde captain just wanted to make sure they were okay. They had to be. Letting out a deep breath, Maya pushed herself off of the uncomfortable hospital chair sheād found herself in and moved towards the nurseās desk where she stood, stretching for a few moments in her firefighter turnouts before turning towards the voice that was speaking to herĀ āIām sorry, I mightāve been in a litle bit of a dazed and missed what you had said. What was that IāM SORRY?ā.
STARTER FOR @weepsmistakeā
Ā Ā Ā āi really thought 48 hour shifts would preparing me for the lack of sleep you get with a baby, but this is much worse. i canāt wait until sofia sleeps through the night. on one hand, i never want to leave her, but at this point iām also just ready to get back to work and have some peace and quiet mixed in with cute baby time.ā

@weepsmistakeā paged Sofia Sloan Torres
The young girl had been stuck in bed for two days now. Arizona had been forced into a surgery and Callie was miles away in New York, but all Sofia wanted now was her momās. She had been asleep so had been aware that aĀ āshift changeā had taken place and her Auntie Meredith was no longer looking after her.Ā āAuntie Meredith!ā She called out, stopping to cough before calling out for her again, tears streaming down her face. Her head was pounding and her fever was spiking.Ā
@weepsmistakeā paged Atticus LincolnĀ for a holiday starter
First holiday season in their new house. First holiday season as a family on their own. Link couldnāt be happier. Amelia was due home any time soon and Link had decorated the whole house. He couldnāt wait to see Ameliaās face light up. So as he heard the car pull up in the drive, he lifted Scout into his arms who was dressed in a christmas onesie and waited by the door, bouncing Scout on his hip so he would stay happy.Ā
As soon as the door opened, Link spoke.Ā āWelcome home, baby!ā He told her happily, his own christmas jumper showing how full out he was going.Ā
@weepsmistakeā paged Kai Bartley
Kai had been at John Hopkins for 6 months now and had been so stuck in their work, ignoring calls from their Mom and trying to find themselvesĀ that they hadnāt had time to let go. They were top of their class and now it was time to kick back. So, for the first time, they accepted the invite to a party. The nerves were there, sure they were, but no one knew them, so why were they nervous?
Running a hand through their hair, Kai stepped into the house and looked around, scoping out everyone before heading straight for the kitchen and throwing back a shot. Liquid courage so to speak. After that they searched for a clean cup and poured a beer from the keg.Ā
The music was loud and most of the people were making out. It didnāt bother Kai too much. They just found themselves an empty seat, perching on the arm of the couch as they looked around. There were some of their classmates, some students who were a couple of years above them, a mixture really and it made them feel suddenly safe. No one was staring at them, no one was wondering why they were there. They felt safe. Chugging the beer, Kai quickly returned to the keg, filling up their cup only to promptly turn and nearly spill it all over another person.Ā āI am so sorry.ā They commented, looking down at the woman.Ā āIām too tall, I really need to learn to look down before I turn around.ā They were trying to joke it off, but the blush was already creeping onto their cheeks, the grip on their cup tight.Ā
