Night Falls from Your Eyes by Chihoi (智海). Pencil on paper. 2011-2013.
“Chihoi is a poet of the quotidian, of life’s minutia, of little gestures, of silences.”
Born in 1977 in Hong Kong, Chihoi started drawing early in his childhood. Since 1996, the self-taught artist begins to release comics, illustration and writing in Hong Kong’s press media. It did not take long for his comics to appear in various international anthologies. Chihoi’s Major comic albums include Hijacking - Comic HongKong Literature (2007), The Train (2007), and Still Life (2003).
Those celestial spheres resonate with the meditated silence within one’s mind. Dreamlike spectacles hint at the interchangeable nature between mind and outer space. They are like the calm after a storm when the wind finally dies down and the landscape is revealed anew.
