I wish The Woman Called Fujiko Mine wentĀ āmystery woman of a thousand facesā route. It could tie in the fact that every woman in the original manga was named Fujiko Mine. Or like how sheās often in disguise in the red jacket series.
Instead they went with this pretentious plot that really didnāt mean anything and was kinda rushed in the end. Wasnāt a bad plot, but they really missed an opportunity to add that mysterious appeal to Fujiko.
Either way half of the episodes were 9/10s in my book, so overall good series.
it begins......
Everything after this point is suffering.
Toonami Dub
Lupin: āCāmon Fuji-cakesā
Me: Heh you may have the toonami fans hooked, but itās gonna take a lot more to get me on board!Ā
The original dub had charm and wit, and just cuz you used a few old nicknames doesnāt mean you could ever live up to-
Lupin: *Does the laugh*
Me:
Where did this wholeĀ āJigen is cowboyā stuff come from, itās been all over my dash. Is it just here? We just accept it?

Man, Streams would be great if they just didnāt exist
Things I hope for in the new Lupin series!
So Lupin the third is getting another series!! Ā Ah dreams do come true~
But what REALLY caught me off guard was the setting. France! The country of love, the place where his lineage began, and the place where ArsĆØne Lupin is under copyright, so Lupin has to go by Edgar.
So many questions just from the setting alone, Will there be an Eiffel tower scene? Most likely. Will Lupin continue to follow the trend of taking place in one particular country? I hope not.
But most importantly, will they reveal info on Lupinās past and or family?
So for as long as Lupinās been animated there pretty much has been no word about the past/origins of any of the characters. Which considering a series like this. isnāt that surprising.
Lupin the third is an episodic series with little to no continuity. You can watch episodes in random order and not miss a thing.Ā
And sure some episodes and special say heās half Japanese half french, others say heās full french, or full Japanese, or he was born in Japan. Monkey Punch himself has once said that he has no real nationality and is more of a citizen of the world.Ā
But with all that, itās hard to talk of Lupinās origins just based on older works and manga. However, with the new revival in Lupin popularity, I feel TMS is really trying to expand on the Lupin franchise.
Will that mean this new series will try to expand on his origins, if so how?
For one thing, Iād love to see Lupin talk about his feelings towards his predecessors and how he feels being a Lupin.
Maybe see the kind of legacy they left in France.
Or even better some flashbacks to his childhood.
In the end, not much could happen in this series and could just be a Blupin clone, but hey I wished for the red jacket dub cast to dub Blupi and that came true. Who knows what else can happen!
TL;DR: The new series gives a good opportunity for the writers to expand on Lupinās Origins!
I love the fact that the Pioneer dub of Lupin part II was basically just an abridged series.
