SWSH headcanons
Sonia and Leon were never among the ‘popular kids’ back home before their journeys, either in Wedgehurst or Postwick. Sonia was too smart, or too confident, or others envied her connection to a famous professor, or wanted only to know her because she was Professor Magnolia’s granddaughter.
Leon was too weird, too quiet, too intense. He got distracted easily. He never smiled. Other kids didn’t want him to play in their games.
It was no wonder they became friends.
Or: Rural areas have some good things. They also suck in some ways, like that everybody knows everybody and shares cruel rumors.
Y'all ever thought what if Leon has a perfectly fine sense of direction, but likes to hideaway in unpopulated places to escape paparazzi and fans-
I& mean, in the beginning of SwSh, Leon was in Wedgehurst for literally like a minute and we find him surrounded by shrieking passersby... On a bigger scale, that must happen literally any and everywhere he goes; what the heck was the scene like on the train itself??
Plus, "getting lost" seems kind of like an excuse, doesn't it? What if he literally just constantly needs a breather or escape from crowds and makes up "I have a really bad sense of direction" as a cover-up? 😳
If I& remember correctly, Leon was the champion since he was literally TWELVE? And he's like...at least twenty now. That's a lot of time spent turning heads and constantly in the center of attention. Not to mention those invasive news reporters, like the ones we meet after winning the Finals. Literally so invasive even cinnabon Hop had to shoo them away lol
So like-
Maybe I& can relate to Leon: I& too wish to be invisible to the public eye /j
It was a really good idea to visit mom again. Because I found a Slowpoke lying around in the train station. I named it after the biggest slowpoke I know, Me.
Then I went home, had dinner with mom, slept in my bed, had a nice little breakfast and took the next train back to Hammerlocke. In the train, I let Me run free, and after an hour of lying in the way, it tried to doge the Poke Ball I had thrown a day earlier. It was fun.

This was in the comments of my eternapocolypse au post, and I encourage you all to use the ask box instead but I wanted to answer this, too.
I don't really use the protags but I can say that most of the people in Postwick went into the Weald, including Hop and Leon's mother.
Most people in Wedgehurst went to Turffield. There are wandering groups of people around that didn't join any larger groups.
Also, I made this a separate post so I didn't have to retag everyone.
New Footage from First Hour and a Half of Pokemon Sword and Shield
Employees at Game Informer and Eurogamer played through the first hour and a half of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Here are some screenshots!
Some Takeaways:
Leon opens the game in place of the professor in the style of a TV broadcast and gives you your first Pokemon.
First town is called Wedgehurst
You chase a Wooloo that has broken through your fence into a place called Slumbering Weald
A couple different new Pokemon in Slumbering Weald.
A mysterious Pokemon appears before you in Slumbering Weald
An object called the Wishing Star grants Dynamax Power
Pokemon that have a faint “yellow glow” indicate a Pokemon that has a couple of Maximum IVS and may have Egg Moves
The player encounters seven types of Pokemon that he can’t say anything about.
Second town is called Motostoke which is a “relatively large town that puts Wedgehurst to shame”
