Exchanging nuptial cups at a wedding Description: The ""three-times-three"" exchange of nuptial sake cups is observed to solidify the marital bond in Japan. Originally, a small girl and boy poured the sake into the cup. The sake container was usually illustrated with male and female butterflies.
