The venue of the wedding party is one of the most important decisions of wedding planning. It also is one of the first, as nice venues are booked out ridiculously early.
My fiance and I did not want a fancy location. We were happy to have our wedding in the community centre we celebrated our engagement in. Simple hall, but conveniently furbished with all we needed. Logistics were manageable for us and my parents-in-law. It had to fit in our guests and allow us to dance. The venue had a kitchen and an adjoining roon, so we were able to set up a buffet in that room. Which was handy as it allowed us to use the main hall for seating and dancing.
Big adavantage, the big blue wall wouldn’t come as surprise and I could arrange a colour scheme and think of a way to decorate the wall, as it was a rather prominent part of the hall.
My idea was to arrange different crochet doilies in a polka dot style on the wall. So, I went on the hunt for doilies.
My recommendation is to visit and have a look at the venue before booking or deciding on a venue. It helped to know what was available and what regulations exist at a venue( e.g. not to put nails in the wall, is there a dish washer,..)
BUT(!!!), be prepared for surprises. Because, all of a sudden that wall was white.
On they day of decorating the hall this left some questions for me. Like leaving the crochet doilies out or even dye them. Well, I’ll go into more detail about decorating the hall in my next post.
So with regards to the venue just get to know it, and leave some space for surprises. But when planning a wedding just always be prepared of them. They sneak around when you least expect them. But always keep in mind what you want, and if and how to accommodate those needs
