any tips for making webweaves?? i loveee yours so much and want to attempt making my own :)
thank you so much!! i'll be honest the two i have are the only two webweaves i've ever done so i will try to make a comprehensive guide but. i'm sure there's much better ways to be doing things and many more tips for webweaves than i can give. but, here's
oscar's webweave process and tips! ♡
don't force ideas. if you're looking for ideas, pertaining to song choices or throughlines you can follow, your best ones will come naturally or through talking to people! my two song choices were just because i like the songs. the wldlfe is a lukewarm popular band, i chose that song bc it's a new release of theirs and i already liked the band. if you're looking for songs or themes, going with things you are familar with is always a good choice.
if an idea isn't working, you are allowed to scrap it and start over! before no sleep, i was working on a maggots for brains webweave with the same theme of ollie suffering at haas and being left behind by kimi. i just couldn't get it to work and shape together the way i wanted, so i scrapped it, and now i have a really good webweave with a different song and the same theme.
for gathering photos, a few resources i've used have been pinterest (obvi), the f1 website, various motorsport magazines, and friends! (shout out reo for gathering the photos of kimi in the sun for me!)
for photoediting software, i use adobe illustrator for text, photoshop for composition. (i know, it's not the best software, but i am familar with it and i get it for free through my uni.) i do my webweaves on computer, i don't know what software you could use for this on mobile, but if you're looking for a good image editor for free i have used GIMP before and really liked it!
with the images you have gathered, organize them in some way. i didn't do that for my first webweave and i SUFFERED. you could put them in a folder, personally i name the files based on what they are/what slide of the webweave they will go on. here's an example from the no sleep process:
(real crude, ik. it worked for me though!)
i started both webweaves by making every slide i wanted, naming them, and numbering them in order. (ex. bearnellinosleep1, bearnellinosleep2, etc.) you can work on them out of order! i just like creating them in order so i have the freedom to move around!
i don't have many tips for actually making the composition, just move things around until it looks good to you!
all in all, the main tip is just have fun with it! try new stuff, don't get discouraged when ideas don't work out, and talk to people during the process! having people to bounce ideas off of always helps.
hope this was helpful!!
