Design for My Website (Mockup. Not Final) (2018)
For my personal portfolio website I went with a sleek modern design. Something that can be seen on contemporary websites today albiet a few tweaks and intricacies.
1. I chose a hero image because it is the first thing that people see when logging onto the site. It communicates to the visitor what the website is about and it sets the tone for what can be expected. This, off course is not the final hero image
2. The colours I chose were simple neutral colours. Of course this is subject to change. But the reason I chose these colours is so that it is easy on the eye
3. The font I settled with for the header text is Myriad Pro Bold. This is a nice font because it is punchy and professional. Not too complicated on the eye. Strong enough to communicate a message.
The body text is Ariel Bold. I chose this because it is easy to read and the spacing is right for reading online. The size of font I used was 20px
4. For the “Projects” section I used simple clickable images so that the visitor can hover over them and click. I chose these images specifically to show what type of projects I have done and capable of doing. Including the service I am able to provide for clients
The final website mockup communicates simplicity and professionalism. It was built using GIMP but is also transferrable to Photoshop. That way if I am doing team-oriented projects team members can still edit the mockup using Photoshop and vice-versa
For the next couple of weeks I will be working on fine-tuning my portfolio site mockup with GIMP. I will post updates on the changes that I have made to this mockup. Then once I have completed the final mockup, I will then begin coding the portfolio site
