Day 10 of 10. In no particular order - 10 all-time favorite albums that really made an impact on you and are still on your rotation list, even if only now and then. Post the cover, no need to explain and nominate a person to do the same. I will be posting these chronologically, in the order I discovered them and though an explanation isn’t needed, I want to tell my story. Babymetal’s “Metal Resistance”is the first album that has had a large impact on me in a while. I originally bought tickets to see them at The Fillmore for 05/17/18 as an impulse buy. I found out about them in 2014 and just wanted to say I had seen them. However, once the initial culture-shock wore off, I found music that was not only technically perfect (in regards to instrumentality, vocals, and choreography) but emotionally validating and strengthening. For example, Sis. Anger is easily one of the best song intros I’ve ever heard and Tales of Destinies has forty-three, count them, FORTY-THREE time signature changes! By now, pretty much everyone knows about my narcolepsy diagnosis. While I was going through my testing and waiting weeks for my results and eventual confirmation, their music was all I had. This album in particular was strangely relevant, particularly their song “From Dusk Till Dawn”. There are songs about every sort of experience one can face: -Always persevering through suffering (Karate) -Addressing a different, earth-shattering experience (Yava!) -Remembering that it’s okay to escape from reality every so often and soar to the stars (Awadama Fever) -Embracing and burning the anger inside your soul (Sis. Anger). There’s something that always makes me feel strong enough to keep going, especially Su’s final words on the album: “Whenever, we are on your side. Remember, always on your side”. #babymetal #metalresistanceepisodevii #metalresistance #sumetal #moametal #yuimetal #wearetheone I nominate @heyitsbryany !! I’m so glad I met you at this concert! 🦊🤘🏽🦊
