We Need More Black Representation
I hope more black people go into journalism.
We NEED more representation in news media. Our stories, fashion and accomplishments are often undermined and twisted in the news media to downplay our people & culture, and the worst part is, we donβt have a high enough pedestal to effectively defend ourselves from these illegitimate coverages. Donβt get me wrong I see how we defend and correct our stories on Twitter/Tumblr, but you must agree that we need a higher form of defense, a higher platform than just social media to defend our culture from these attacks. To capitalize, we should be on even grounds with the ones oppressing us.
Our words are our most powerful weapon. We have such powerful, artistic, creative minds and a natural way of words, which is why they oppress us! To keep our voice unheard! When we speak, the world listens! Remember that.
