blue: what do you do when you’re sad? what are some things you do when you can’t sleep? what was the best (non-romantic) night you’ve had? what kind of covers do you have on your bed? who is the last person you told a secret to?

When I’m sad I go one of two ways: I either look up the happiest things ever (I have an entire emergency tag of hilarious things) to nudge myself into something happier or I look at the most horrifying, depressing things in the world as kind of an emotional reset button.

When I can’t sleep, I usually read. Sometimes books. Sometimes fanfic. Sometimes political threads. Eventually I get frustrated, usually after about three or four in the morning, and I try my usual method of getting to sleep again: putting on a podcast I’ve listened to several times before (my current favorites are Last Podcast on the Left, God Awful Movies, Cognitive Dissonance, The Dollop, and We Hate Movies) and letting the noise help me drift off. My mind is usually a very busy, confusing place and having something to take up that noise helps. I try not to take meds for insomnia--I have really bad reactions to the ones that make you sleep and end up useless for an extra day or so after.

The best non-romantic night I’ve had... I’ll go with recently. So when @lurkz was in NYC, @weareallkosh and I went to visit. And we went on a ghost tour. I’m pretty sure they just went along with it to humor me, but I was SO GODDAMNED EXCITED. It was cold and we walked all over the East Village and got to see cool buildings and Anderson Cooper’s haunted firehouse and the site of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and being somewhere fun, with people I care about, and knowing that they went along with this dumb thing because it was a thing I was excited about, was the very best thing.

I currently have blue, velvety covers on my bed that are very soft and warm.

Mystery: what’s the strangest unsolved mystery that you’ve heard of?Oh man. So many. First off, I’m going to recommend Thinking Sideways to anyone who likes unsolved mystery type stuff, since they do an excellent job of describing the mystery and going through possible answers from most to least plausible. There’s three big non-murder mystery cases that come to mind. The first is Kaspar Hauser, which I read about as a kid and fascinated me. The second is the Taman Shud case, which I heard about a few years ago and inspired me to co-write an episode of The Dark Files (”The Message.”) The third isn’t strange, but it involves a friend of a friend. Chance Wackerhagen was kidnapped by his dad when we were eight, and hasn’t been seen since. He was in my friend’s class--I changed schools and didn’t go to that school. Every few years I google his name to see if there’s any updates.

Spell: do you believe in magic, or any sort of otherworldly powers? 

Not really. I mostly believe that the universe is an uncaring system and we formulate our own patterns and systems to make sense of things. But that’s not going to stop me from making an altar on the 2nd. I always say “I don’t believe in ghosts until the lights go out.” Which is basically, I still don’t think they’re there LOGICALLY, but the part of me that will never stop trying to find the faces in the shadows will still keep on going no matter what my logic tells it some days. Or nights, as it were.

Werewolf: what cryptid or monster do you think could actually exist?

I genuinely don’t know. I think a few that live in inhospitable mountain and jungle environments have a higher chance of being real than, say, a chupacabra. And I think that something in the ocean has an even higher chance given that we’ve explored so little of it. If something were to exist, I would hope it would be something like a Sasquatch in that they’re reported in multiple places--face it, we’re likely to only find something because we’re on the verge of destroying its habitat these days.

17. Describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage.

Librarians AU. Alex as the Librarian. Maggie as her Guardian. J’onn as the previous Librarian who is tethered to the Library with his Guardian M’gann and acts as Alex’s mentor.

Kara’s still a superhero. Jeremiah is… former Librarian gone rogue? idk

That’s about all I have for it so far.

19. What’s your favorite character headcanon?

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

Hmm... come up with that I’d never write is probably the sporadic “what if you killed off all the people your fav character loves???” ideas that pop into my head.

That I would write/have written? Probably a tie between my entire fic based around Harm being captured and tortured and a planned angsty fic for Alex involving doing some extremely questionable things in the mission to bring down Cadmus.
