Well, it's just fact that what is common knowledge nowadays was unfathomable even a hundred years ago.
Would it really be unrealistic to say that we might eventually understand everything in out observable universe, given enough time?
Maybe!
While it's true human development has achieved what used to be considered impossible, and it is very likely we will continue making "impossible" happen.
Even if we had the time, resources, and eligibility to understand the ENTIRETY of the observable universe; even if somehow destiny lined up in a way that made it possible; we're still left with the rest of the unobservable universe.
The very nature of our universe is unreal. We've no idea how far it goes, limiting us to however far we can reach.
Even, say, hypothetically, we were somehow able to infinitely travel to the far ends of existence, what about the unknown? There are frequencies we can't hear, things that still don't make sense, situations that we can't predict---even if we understand them in their entirety---so how can we expect to ever answer every single question the universe has to offer.
This scenario is impossible even in a hypothetical world that would give us the best chance. This doesn't even consider the fact that our world is real and doesn't care what gives us the best chance. We only learn from new problems---or questions---that were unbeknownst to us. There are so many factors to so many things that make it impossible for us to try to wrap out primate brains around everything.
Because of things like chaos, humans are destined to merely understanding what we can. We will never be the ones to control the uncontrollable.
Fiona is spending the night. We’re both trying hard not to let this affect us.
