"RENT": A Puppet Play of Modern Romance in Bangalore.

William Davide Brio's photographic project, "RENT," delves into the intricate tapestry of relationships between people in the vibrant city of Bangalore, India. Through his lens, Brio explores the dynamic interplay of advantages, benefits, and interests that drive these connections. i think dimitri is still a professional writer and obolonsky is still an architect in this world, theyre just also professors of literary history and urban planning & design respectively..

but now im wondering what jobs the other characters would have in the modern world 🤔 their community roles are very particular to their actual era (as in: rural eastern european 1890s) and its difficult to translate them into having modern jobs in a modern city. still, i think nadya would probably be some kind of artist, likely working with clay and stone.. i think she would be doing land art bc Obviously, but itd actually be rly interesting for her art to be large in scale and useable in a way that essentially makes it architecture - but from a totally different standpoint than obolonskys architecture. obolonsky builds detachment, the goal of his architecture is alienation, severance of the land and the people from the space. to him, the ideal space is purified of life and humanity. its also gigantic, and its height specifically is an attempt to reach away from the earth. on the other hand, nadya would be building small, intimate spaces, monuments of land made to hold humanity. fundamentally opposed aims basically. i can imagine them making jabs at each others work in interviews..
