          “ dude, it’s halloween. what the fuck did you expect. ” 

           dom is a horror movie lover. halloween is the perfect time to shove his interests down other peoples throats, but he seems almost horrified at the mere idea of watching even a slightly spooky title. a groan escapes him, grabbing said remote and moving away from the horror section of netflix. 

           “ so what? you wanna watch care-bears or something? ” 

@wcrbiird​ said --- “Just because I’m helping you doesn’t mean we’re friends.”

           “ i don’t remember asking for your help to begin with. ” 

           getting into trouble is one of his crowning achievements. doing the simplest of tasks could run him into trouble. but he really had not foreseen himself dealing with more demons today. getting food for dinner, he figured he’d be gone and back in under ten minutes but the universe seemed to be against him. the other had found him in an unflattering position, back against the wall with a hand at his throat. 

           “ what’re you? my knight in shining armor? ” he spits, using a boot to kick away the lowly creatures to the concrete. black eyes narrow at the stranger who seems to be wrestling his own rat from hell. 

           “ buzz off kid. ” 

It was probably just his nerves, but Michael didn’t fare well under pressure. The turning in his stomach had gotten to be too much to bear, and some of the color drained from his face.

“I’m going to be sick.”

nowadays it doesn’t take too much work to shut out the king’s influence, and recently he even leaves willingly. the glittering gold leaves her eyes in an instant, and she’s just a mere human again.

    And if you listen closely, you can hear the sound of air getting sucked between her teeth. “Does it REALLY matter who I am...?” She asks, the roughness coming with the effort to sound lax. Unfazed. 

     “I mean, in the LONG TERM of things?”

      A neighbor once deemed Sheila as the sort of woman to say both her first and last name wherever she went. And he was not wrong. Impressions were to be created, large or small, because Sheila thrived under acknowledgment. But this current moment is the exception as this man took in the sight of her, narrowing her eyes, and pointing finger at the cashier who offered a trash bag before a paper one.            Yes, she had multiple items in her custody that could possibly make the brown bag burst. And yes, she would likely release a ‘FUCK!’  at the stairwell of her apartment as cat food, chicken, celery, and lettuce all spilled to the floor. But to step outside the shop, trash-bag in hand, would cost Sheila her pride.       “I know I acted ugly, God forgive me.” Eyes are rolled, as if she herself is tired by her ways. “But you know what? I’m going to go STRAIGHT home and put this all behind me. Have a blessed day!” 

he’s been gone for over a month but nav’s stayed in touch with his lover until this past week, not really telling him when he’d be back so the fallen coming home early, especially with the little boy accompanying him would be a huge surprise. nav adjusts the bag on his back and grips the other small suitcase in one hand and holds onto his son with the other. is this a good idea? no. but does he really care? no, not at all. maybe he shouldn’t just show up straight away with the little boy, so nav quickly calls luke to pick the boy up and hang out with him until nav explains everything to michael. when everything is figured out nav hands josh off to luke and goes back inside, walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator just so he’ll have a little extra time to gather his thoughts. 

when the fallen reaches the apartment door he takes a deep breath, pushes the key into the lock, turns it and opens the door with a smile, excited to see michael again.
