Solitary Confinement
not again. not like this.
it wasn’t the inside of an umbrella this time, that was true, but this was still dark. this was still somewhere where she didn’t want to be, somewhere damp and alone. that was the biggest factor here. dark and alone.
before, it was sort of fine. she could hear taako’s voice from outside, hear the things that were going on and it brought her some sort of comfort, however minuscule it was. it was still hope. it was still.. something. not this. not this darkness, this inky blackness that clawed at her ankles, climbing up and up, up until her throat and clenching around it, squeezing every bit of life out of her.
she felt sick.
again, she had lost track of time and her body had weakened as she was kept in this room. the door was a steel door that was now seared black by the many fireballs that hit it’s frame. it wouldn’t budge.
she stared at it, waiting for it to open to get some sort of food, despite how little it was, to come through that small gap at the bottom. her nails were broken, teared from clawing at the walls and knuckles bloodied by kicking, punching, screaming at the walls around her.
how long had it been?
how long had it been since she was put in here? how long had it been since she last saw the light of day? it must have been a few months or even longer with how long her hair had gotten. there was a loud boom from outside of her door, and usually she had learned that any sound was her captor coming in through the door outside, but this time there were voices muffled around the room, and a noise of crumbling stone. the voices were too soft to make out and she was too weak to move to the door to listen in, to bang on the door and ask for help. did she even have a voice anymore?
luckily, though, the voices came closer and closer until they were outside of her cell and with a blinding light shillouetting the door, it burst off the hinges and fell in front of her. and there he was.
the dingus himself. he found his way to her, quickly pulling her into his arms and wrapping her in a cloak. she probably didn’t look quite her best.
she never thought she’d miss her brother’s arms so much.

oh yeah. go to bed.
I’m sorry, sir, but you lost the right to tell me to go to bed when you disowned me!

My muse is being held in solitary confinement and hasn’t seen anyone for weeks. Send ⚠to find them. [ x ]
It was hell. A small, personal hell just for Lup.
Soon as her captors had closed her into the cramped room, she itched to burn the place down — viscerally upset with being trapped like this, because it brings back the memories she doesn’t want brought back — but there’s a field of magic dampening her own, and she can’t even cast a cantrip here.
Still she fought against her imprisonment at first, hitting and punching the walls until she was sore, screaming until her voice was nearly gone. But it changed nothing, and as time passed the suffocating nature of this place quickly wore down her spirit.
All that’s missing is the velvet curtains and it would be a perfect replica of her experience inside the Umbra staff, and she hates it. It terrifies her, because the decade she spent in there all alone was awful, and she can’t get out, and oh gods what if she’s trapped here forever?
She can’t go through that. Not again. Not again.
By the time help finally comes — she can’t tell how long it’s been, time’s a blur here, just like it was in that damned staff — she’s retreated into herself, blank gaze fixed on nothing in particular as she sits in the corner of the cell, knees pulled to her chest. She barely even realizes Taako’s presence until she feels a hand on her shoulder, at which she startles and looks at him like she’s looking at a ghost; like she’s questioning if he’s even real.
Then she’s pulled into his arms and hugged tight, and the soothing pressure helps bring her back to reality ( she’s here, she’s alive, she’s not in that umbrella anymore, and more importantly, Taako’s here with her ).Â
She draws a shuddering breath before throwing her arms around him, clinging for dear life as she buries her face in his shoulder. She trembles in her brother’s hold, trying to muffle her sobs, shaken but so, so grateful that the worst of this nightmare is finally over.
