Hi there! First of all let me say thank you for all the work you do, your gifs and other content are always on point. <3 I got pretty awestruck by that tae x run gifset though, how did you make them so smooth/high qual? I downloaded some 1080 videos from youtube but never succeeded in making gifs.. no matter how good the video quality. Would you mind sharing some tips and/or making an updated gif tutorial? Have a nice day¬¬¬
Ah thank you so much for appreciating my content it means so much to me c:
For my gifs (performance ones anyway) I use .ts files (source quality format, so it’s lossless) and avisynth for resizing the videos (one again, to make it lossless) and once I import all the frames into photoshop I crop it and run it through topaz to clean it up (you don’t really need topaz, but its just another step I take to make sure my gifs look super crisp.
of course need to mention @brandinator here for all his avisynth resources and guides. Here’s his tutorial on how to use it. I might actually whip up a tutorial later today if I have to time.
Here are some general tips too
try not to gif below 720/1080 because the resizer in photoshop does also lose quality when it downscales
learn to use smart sharpening too in photoshop because it really helps out a lot (if you dont have topaz, and/or dont gif from .ts)
learn about colouring, because it can really make a difference in your final gif
double check your export settings (here are mine) because they also change the output of your gif
