Teaching has helped me discover I'm a bit of a sadist. We're currently in the middle of semester finals. (Here we call them term examinations.) My students have already finished their French exam and whenever they see me they ask for their scores. "Ma'am what were our marks?" "Between zero and a hundred." "Ma'am but were they good? Bad okay better?" "Purple chocolate ironic... Manaswini, what game are we playing?" The fact that I enjoy harassing my students tells me two things: 1) I have a terrible sense of humour, and 2) maybe this teaching as a career thing is a good idea.
