DIY Waxless Candles
Want to make super EASY candles with very few things that you probably already have at home? Well, if you do... here ya go!
Ingredients: A glass container, Vegetable Shortening, Scentsy Cube, Crayon, a Wick, and couple hours of your time!
1) Get Your Ingredients all set out and ready.
2) Fill your glass container as full as you possibly can with the vegetable shortening.
3) Pick out the color you want for your candle and get the crayon. You don’t need much for color, about 1/4 of a crayon. *Remember your scentsy cube has color already so use that as a reference when picking the color of your candle* Chop it up in small pieces so they melt faster.
4) Fill a pasta pan half full with water and put your container with the vegetable shortening in the water
5) Warm your water up on low, but do not let it boil. As you stir your shortening, while it’s sitting in the hot water, it should start to melt. You cannot let your shortening get to a boil or it will ruin the candle.
6) Add more shortening, as it allows. You want it about 3/4 the way full with melted shortening. Again, do not let it boil.
7) Add the chopped up crayon and the Scentsy cube(s). Stir it until every little bit is turned into liquid. Once again, do not let it boil.
8) STIR, STIR, STIR!!!! This is where it becomes time consuming, because you CANNOT rush it or the candle will not set up right. Plan to stir for AT LEAST 20-30 minutes.
9) Top off the container with vegetable shortening. You want to add until the candle is as full as you want it. I usually go until it is about a half inch below the top.
10) Let it cool. You need to let the water, pan and glass cool before picking up the container, otherwise you may get burnt. Once it is cool enough to pick up set it to the side and let it sit for around an hour until the top has a little crust built up.
11) Set the wick in the candle. You’ll poke through the top layer which should be very easy because the entire bottom should still be liquid. Push the wick in and to the bottom leaving a little bit sticking out. I used a clothes pin to keep the wick in place, but that is not needed.
12) Let it finish cooling. Do not rush it at all, leave it to set over night or at least around 6-8hrs. Once it is finished cooling you are ready!!
13) Cut the wick so its only about an inch taller than the candle.
14) Light it and let your house fill with wonderful aromas!!
Enjoy this EASY DIY WAXLESS CANDLE and please share pictures and other ideas you may have to make this waxless candle even better!!!
