July 16, 2021 - Brown-throated Wattle-eye (Platysteira cyanea)
Found across central Africa, these wattle-eyes live in forests near rivers, savannas, mangroves, and gardens. Females have brown throats, while males have white throats with black bands across their chests. They eat insects, foraging in pairs and small flocks. They build open cup-shaped nests from lichen and spiderwebs in forked branches of trees or bushes. Females lay clutches of two eggs.
