So I just realized that the Washbot au is basically Chobits, or at least the same basic concept behind the world of Chobits, in that you have this living doll robot thing that is like a person, etc, and does what you tell it to.
Also, people totally have sex with their Washbots. Or their bot-dolls in general. Just throwing that out there. There’s an entire ethical debate about whether people should have sex with their bot-dolls, but it’s definitely a thing that happens.

Hmm, maybe Epsiwash and South bond anyway? Once they decide to team up to take down Freelancer and she gets to know him as an actual person? They have to build their dynamic back from scratch and it’s not the same as before but it’s something all new and unbreakable because it was forged in the fires of anger and the cold waters of vengeance. And also they take down a fully grown mountain troll at some point and that helps. They learn to exist anew.
Also the Meta is still around because Epsiwash, being an ai himself, isn’t able to activate the EMP. Or the alternate ending where he activates it anyway and then dies at the end of season 6.
To be honest I only wanted a verse where Freelancer!Wash and BGC!Wash coexisted
AU where Wash is a sort of living doll that is massproduced to be a weird combination of companion, household helper, murderbot, etc, whatever you need him to be really. There’s several different dolls but Wash is a particularly popular model.
His personality is coded but by tweaking some settings you can get a personalized version, the core personality is the same but different parts act differently together based on the settings.
Blood Gulch gets sent one in a drop. They were supposed to get two- one for each team- but the Freelancers found out that some of the sim bases were getting Washbots and they stole one because they wanted one, so Blood Gulch only got one Washbot.
(The Freelancers played their Washbot off as Agent Washington and pretended he was a Freelancer, and the Director pretended he was stupid enough to believe them because 1, he thought it was funny, and b, Aiden begged him to let him watch that train wreck.)
In the canyon, everyone wants to have use of their Wash, and none of them every learned to share so they’re constantly stealing him from each other, even within the teams. Lopez is appalled and tries to get him to join his robot army and overthrow their oppressors, but the end result is that he just ends up joining in the constant kidnappings as everyone tries to get exclusive use of their Wash.
