Please give us a brief info of yourself My nickname's Wasaru, I'm a 33 year old french director and beatmaker.

Please describe your typical day It depends on my actual projects. Recently, it was like : waking up, go to a calm place, write all day long for my first short film's script. When I work on a animation music video, it's basically the same, but at home, spending all day long on my computer, with my digital pen, drawing and animating until late in the night. Everything I do takes me a lot of time (I'm probably a slow person :) and I have to work a lot , lot of time each days. So, when the work is done, I usually spend days (or weeks) for recovering from tiredness.

How have you learned directing/filming skills and techniques? I would have been happy to learn in a school, but I took the wrong direction for my studies (I was a computer programmer) then after a while working in this branch, I just told myself : "it's not too late to follow your dream, dude !" I mostly learned by watching movies. I think it's the best way to learn anything : beeing patient, observant, looking for the details, trying to understand how it's made. Sometime watching Behind the scenes can help, but not so much. It's an active process to watch a movie and wondering everytime "how they made it ?"

What are your future goals and plans? I'm working on my first live/film short film. It's a big challenge to me since I'm an experienced animation film maker, but I've no experience in film yet. I hope to succeed and make a good film, and then continue on this way.

Were you interested in filming or other creative pursuits when you were growing up? How did you decide to directing/filming? Yes, I was. At a young age, I found an old film camera and started to shoot short movies with my friends. We were like 10 years old, so it was totally ugly footages and uninteresting movies. I remember this exact moment when I thought  "I will be a movie director". But, we grew up, the camera was probably broken or lost, and I totally forget this dream. I found out other passions, like drawing, video games, etc...

That's only after my studies, when I was starting a programmer's job that I start to think it wasn't the right direction, I won't be happy to work all my life with computer coding. Hopefully I was like 22 years old and it wasn't too late to change my carrer. I still wanted to become a film director, but I knew how hard it is to make it real, that's why I thought I would make an animation film. Because I had some skills in drawing, and I knew I could make a film only by myself, in my room :)

What is your biggest regret? Maybe to have lost all this time to understand what I really wanted in life. If only I knew it before, I would be today a better director, with more experience.... But, this is not such a regret actually, this is just life. And I'm still happy to realized I wanted to quit programming before I'm 40 years old ;)

What advice would you give to a young person starting out? The best advice I could give to him is to listen to someone else, ahah :)  I'm not an example to follow, and I have no advice to give since I'm just a beginner. I'm not efficient and make mistakes everyday... I still have a lot to learn before I can teach anyone. But, I think anyone has to work a lot, A LOT ! to succeed. Keep motivated, trust in yourself, don't be too hard, demanding with yourself (you should, but too much could be destructive)

What are you listening currently? At this exact moment, I'm listening to a young Amercian artist named Bambu Child. He's pretty talented and would be part of my next album release as a beatmaker. Otherwise, recently, I listen mostly to independent hiphop and electro stuffs like Sage Francis, Isaac Delusion, Son Lux, Le parasite, Arm, Jay Humble, Slawth207...

Do you have any favorite movies or TV shows? A lot, Adaptation, Beeing John Malkovitch, Reality, Akira, I wish I was here, The Big Lebowski, Burn after reading, The rover, Memento,...
