Keeping this up, hobbystreak #1211! Today i did a couple of different but related things with my genestealers and my maleceptor.
With my genestealers, I cleaned up the bases. To do this i made sure the rim of the base is nice and clear, get the ballist that either got glue or just stuck out of spots I didnt want it, and used a texture paste to fill in some gaps. Once that was dried I then put another layer of thinned down glue to seal everything down.
I also made the base for my Maleceptor today! I find bases for the 4-6 legged tyranids to be the hardest since its hard to find a balance between having enough stuff to appear interesting and allow the figure to naturally stay on.
As a break between sealing the genestealers and working on it's base, I got some base coats of the brain and veins of the Maleceptor's carapace. I did it some what messily since I had to already do another layer of the green, there are somr spots of some poor coverage.
It is really nice to be able to talk about these things in a long form way. Posting on Twitter and bluesky is nice in its own way, but the ability to long form type is really rewarding to me. If you have any questions about these, please don't hesitate to ask!
