Heey! Have you done 26. "Helping them build their confidence before an important meeting"? If not, may I request Vaxleth? Thank you :D
Hi Raven! Thank you very much for the prompt! I hope I did it justice! These two cuties are becoming one of my favorite ships to write for!
(A/N: This story is part of an AU I'm calling the Vax Lives verse, where Scanlan manages to use his wish spell to prevent the RQ from taking Vax at the end of C1. He and Keyleth are now happily married and are living in Zephrah.
Also, There is a trigger warning on this one for a mention of a miscarriage. No graphic detail is given, but it is mentioned. Feel free to skip this one if you need to.)
“Breathe,” Vax gently took Keyleth’s hand. “Breathe with me.” She squeezed it heavily, which hurt a little, but he didn’t care. “Everything’s okay.” He gently casts Lay on Hands to try and get rid of the sick feeling in her gut.
It must have worked because Keyleth finally took a breath, and then she leaned forward and rested her forehead against his shoulder. “Ugh. This sucks.”
He let go of her hand to rub her back, ignoring the smell of sickness in the air. He hated this too. He hated when she was sick. But this… this was something that she couldn’t avoid. She just had to endure it, and he vowed to be right there with her doing whatever he could to help her feel better.
“I know, love. Just a few more months, and hopefully, things will settle.” He kissed her hair and continued to rub her back.
“We are late. I hope Dad isn’t going to be too upset.” Keyleth said, her words still muffled into his shoulder.
Vax chuckled. “Considering the whole point of us having dinner is to tell him you are pregnant, I hope not.”
Keyleth signed and pulled away. “Is it too soon? I don’t want to get his hopes up.”
Vax’s smile faded and he gently pulled her with him into the window seat of their bedroom and sat her in his lap to hold her close. He put his hand on her belly. He could barely feel the bump where their child was slowly growing. Everything seemed fine so far, but so had the other pregnancy. His memories went to the child they had lost before, and he said a prayer for them. He knew that miscarriages happen sometimes, but that knowledge didn’t take away the pain.
“That’s up to you, Kiki. I support you, and if you don't want to tell him yet then we won't.”
Keyleth sighed. “It seems stupid, but I’m worried that he’s going to be disappointed.”
“Why?” Vax asked softly, gently running his fingers through her short red hair.”Disappointed that we lost a child, or disappointed that we tried again so soon?” He was a bit confused.
“I don’t know,” Keyleth replied softly. She hesitated for a moment, gathering her thoughts, and then continued. “Maybe it’s just me, and I’m projecting.” She sighed. “I’m just excited, worried, hopeful, and scared all at the same time and I don’t know how to feel.
Vax nodded his head, understanding all of that as well. He gently kissed the back of her neck and held her just a little bit tighter.
“Well, the only way to find out is to tell him and see what he says. And for the record, I feel the same way, love. I’m worried about you and the baby, but yet I’m so excited that I could shout. I don’t want this one to end in disappointment and sadness, but some things are out of our control or understanding. No matter what I will be right here by your side, loving you through it all for as long as I can.”
Keyleth turned slightly to kiss him on the lips; then, she hugged him. “I love you. How do always know what to say to make me feel better?”
He grinned and gently teased her bottom lip between his before letting go. “Because I know you and I love you. I’ve devoted the rest of my days to making you happy. It’s my one goal in life.”
Keyleth found herself blushing even after the years they had shared. “Such a poet, my love. Careful, you will make Scanlan jealous.”
They shared a laugh, and then, after a few moments of resting, Keyleth stood up. She turned and held out her hand to Vax. “Well, I’m ready. Thank you.”
Vax allowed her to help him up, and then he squeezed her hand before letting go. “No thanks needed, Kiki.” He nudged her hip gently with hers. “It’s my honor, truly.”
She nudged him back. She bent down to reach for her bag, but Vax grabbed it first.
“Hey.”
“This is my honor too. It’s part of my duties as a husband. I’m the official bag carrier.”
Keyleth snorted. “Dork.” Then she put her arm in his, and together they made their way towards her father’s cottage.

hi! this is just a prompt suggestion for Vaxleth because i notice you write a lot of Vax taking care of Keyleth but what about Keyleth taking care of sick Vax?
He has a pretty bad fever and been nauseous and she fed her best to take care of him :,))
Hello! Thank you so very much for the prompt! I hope I did it justice!
Content Warnings: Mention of Vomiting. Feel free to skip this story if you need to.
This takes place in my Vax Lives AU but before they find out that Keyleth is pregnant.
Keyleth returned home late one night from visiting Pyrah. Usually, Vax would have gone with her, but today he was scheduled to teach a few Blades the art of stealth. He had been excited about his lesson, and Keyleth had found his excitement adorable.
She loved how he seemed to fit into this life so easily. Sometimes, she worried that he would become bored with quiet village life, but he kept reassuring her that he loved their shared life. Finally, Keyleth opened the door, expecting to see him working on his latest art project(He had developed a liking for woodwork and had turned one of their downstairs rooms into a studio), but instead, she found him sound asleep on the couch.
She just paused to study him for a second, enjoying the feeling of coming home to the person she loved and seeing him safe and sound at their home. Then, quietly she crept forward and gently knelt in front of the couch. Keyleth pushed back a lock of hair that had fallen from his braid across his forehead.
The Tempest frowned, feeling the immense heat pouring off of his skin.
Gently she touched his forehead and then quietly kissed the surface of his skin.
“Vax, honey, wake up.” her voice was calm and quiet. She didn't want to startle him awake.
After a few seconds of calling his name, his eyes opened. They were glossy from the fever, and for a second, he looked right through her before finding his bearing.
“Kiki.” Vax croaked, his voice hoarse. “How… How long have you been there?”
“I just got home. How are you feeling?” She asked, already knowing the answer from his look, but she asked it anyway.
“Terrible.” He said, slowly sitting up. The movement proved too much for his stomach, and he hastily pushed her out of the way to throw up into a bucket that he must have drug over earlier.
“Oh,” Keyleth said, sitting beside him to hold his hair back. “Easy.” Vax threw up for a few seconds more and then groaned wearily.
“Fuck.”
Despite the circumstances, Keyleth chuckled. Even sick, he was just so damned cute.
She put a cool hand on his neck, and he leaned into the touch as he sat back to look at her.
“I’m dying.”
“No, you aren’t,” Keyleth assured him. “But I bet you are miserable. I have some tonic I can give you, and I can make some soup if you want it.”
Vax shook his head. “No soup.” He rubbed at his belly. “But I’ll take the tonic. Thank you, love.”
She kissed his cheek, stood, and a few minutes later, she returned with a mug filled with liquid.
He took it from her and drank it, finding the bitter taste of the herbs covered by the sweetness of the honey she had put into it. Something that she did all of the time, knowing that he hated the taste of the herbal medicine. He smiled up at her, grateful, and Keyleth felt her heart beat faster.
“Thanks, Kiki.” He said, leaning into her. “Love you.”
“I love you too.” She wrapped an arm around her and helped him up. “Now, let’s get you settled into bed; time to rest now.”
Vax said nothing as she helped him up the stairs toward their room. Keyleth quietly tucked him, kissed his forehead, and smoothed back his hair.
“Sleep now, love.” She whispered.
He gave her a sleepy smile, feeling slightly better now that the medicine was taking effect. “Join me?” He asked, seeming to want to be close and needing comfort.
Keyleth gave him a loving smile before stripping down to her underthings and joining him in the bed. She wrapped the covers around them both and pulled him closer into her arms. Then using a bit of her magic, she let her fingers turn into ice and gently pressed them into his neck for a moment. He let out a sigh of relief and snuggled closer.
“That’s amazing, love. Thank you.”
She kissed his skin and changed back, feeling his breath change with sleep. It wasn’t often that she got to hold him, so she took advantage of it. She closed her eyes and listened to the wind blowing out outside and the soft rhythm of his breath against her chest, and she felt content. For the rest of the night, she would watch over him and make sure he was well, and in the morning, she would take the day off and spend a quiet day reading with him on the couch, making sure that he would take it easy.
Keyleth snuggled her head deeper into the pillow and hugged him a little bit tighter before she, too, fell into slumber.
Alex and Maggie get away from the big city to celebrate New Year's, spending the holiday in a cozy cabin in the woods. Maggie reflects on the little moments spent with the ones she loves.
Thank you for the prompt! I hope I did it justice!
This takes place after the events of C1E97!
Vax woke up to an empty bed. For a second, he panicked, his mind fully aware that Keyleth had died earlier and he had missed it. Had he missed it again, had something else happened to her? He sat up and then relaxed when he saw her resting in the window seat, her knees up to her chest as she looked at the moon. It took him a minute to realize that she was crying.
Quickly he got up and went to her, wrapping his arm gently around her shoulders. She turned, buried her face into his chest, and sobbed momentarily. Gently he rubbed her back until she quieted, and when she pulled away, he wiped away her tears.
“Hey. You should be resting.” He said lovingly.
“I know.” She replied, her voice a bit weak from the day's events. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“You should have woken me. I might have been able to help or at least make you tea.” Vax said. He motioned towards the bed, and when she nodded, he gently picked her up and carried her over, setting her down softly on the blankets. Then he tucked her in before climbing in next to her. He couldn’t get over the vision of her holding weakly onto his sister’s broom, covered in blood. He wouldn’t know what he would do if he lost her.
“I know, but I just needed a minute, to try and calm down. I tried meditating, but I couldn’t focus my thoughts.” She sounded so defeated, and it broke his heart.
“That’s understandable after the day you have had,” Vax replied, gently running his fingers through her hair as she liked. She leaned into the touch with a cat-like motion, and he smiled. If she were Minxy right now, she would be purring.
“I died. For a split second, I was somewhere else. I thought maybe I would see my mother, but I didn’t. A part of me knows that I didn’t spend enough time there to know for sure, but the other part of me wonders if it's because she’s not there.” Keyleth sighed. “It seems foolish to hope.”
“Hope is never foolish, Kiki,” Vax reassured her.
Keyleth took a shaky breath. “All they found was her leg… we never found her body. Maybe she’s still out there somewhere?”
“Then we can look for her. Someone somewhere has to know something. Emon and the Council owe us a big favor; I’m sure they can put out inquiries and such. And if that fails, then we things get settled at home, we can go ourselves.”
He felt Kiki freeze briefly, and her green eyes flash to his. “Do you mean that?” She asked, her voice so quiet that even his keen hearing had to strain to hear her.
“Of course. You should know by now that I would do anything for you, go anywhere… I want to be with you, my love.”
Keyleth blushed, and she reached up to pull him in for a kiss. “Well, I knew that.” She teased. “But I meant you saying that Zephrah is home… did you mean that?”
Vax smiled. “Yes, but you missed the point, Love. Zephrah is a beautiful place, and I would enjoy settling down there, but anywhere you want to settle or be, is where I will be. Where you go… I go, and your people will be my people. I promise for as long as I draw breath.”
Keyleth didn’t know what to say to that, so instead; she hugged him tightly. He felt tears again, but this time he knew they were happy, and he felt a few of them slide down his cheeks.
“I love you, Kiki.” He whispered into her ear.
“I love you too.” She said after a moment. She pulled away and kissed him softly before settling down against him with her head on his chest. “I think I can sleep now. Will you hold me?”
He nodded and began running his fingers through her hair, keeping an eye on her as she fell back into slumber.
It was a cold, snowy evening in Whitestone. Inside the Castle, the temperature wasn't much better than the outside, and every room was cold. The fires in each room helped some, but it didn't feel like enough this evening. Vax was freezing, and nothing seemed to be helping.
Nights like this reminded him of sleeping in the woods with his sister and their meager fire, curled together like wolves, trying to conserve as much heat as possible between them. He always tried to pretend, for Vex’s sake, that it wasn't that bad. But his biggest fear was waking up to find her dead, from hypothermia, or worse, her waking up to find him.
Things had gotten better when they found Trinket, and by that time, they had scraped up enough coin to find better, warmer gear. But still, the memories of the nights haunted him sometimes, and the cold just seemed to bring them to the forefront.
All he wanted to do was to get into bed or curl up in front of a fire somewhere, cuddle next to Keyleth, and spend the rest of the night getting warm and not thinking about the past.
Keyleth, however, was nowhere to be found. Vax pulled aside a passing Guard.
“Excuse me. Have you seen Keyleth anywhere?” Vax asked.
The young woman thought for a second. “Um, I think I saw her head to the library, Sir.”
“Thank you.” He said as he quickly made his way toward the Library.
Knowing where she was, he found her quickly and momentarily paused in the doorway to look at her. She was lying on one of the couches near the fire, a blanket covering her legs and her head on one elbow on the armrest. One hand held a book, and the other held a cookie she was munching on as she read. A nearby table held a steaming cup of what Vax knew was to be tea, and the sight in front of him was almost too much to bear. She was so beautiful, and he did his best to commit that moment to memory so that he could savor the image of her for as long as he could.
Quietly he knocked on the doorjamb before entering. This was a public space, of course, but there was something about the serenity she extruded that made him feel like he was intruding on a private moment, and he never wanted to bother her if she was looking for solitude.
“Hey.” He said quietly. She looked over at him, her green eyes lighting up at the sight of him. She finished her cookie and set her book aside.
“Hey. You look cold. Come here.” Keyleth replied. She tapped the space on the couch next to her, and, he moved towards her, relief filling his soul.
He gently pulled back the blanket and joined her, the couch was big enough for the two of them to lay back to front, and he sighed with happiness as she pulled him closer. It took them a second to adjust to the position, but eventually, they settled. Keyleth was spooning and holding him, and with the blanket, the fire, and the heat that she naturally gave off, he was finally feeling warm again.
“Better?” She asked softly after a few minutes of quiet companionship.
He nodded. “Warm… finally.”
She laughed and kissed his cheek. “Read to me?”
He nodded, picked up the book she had abandoned, and began reading.

Vaxleth, switching roles of big spoon and little spoon
Thank you for the prompt! Here you go! You can also find this on AO3!
Keyleth coughed and reached for her tea. Behind her in their room, she could hear Vax moving around. As much as she knew he was trying to be quiet, the noise grated on her already overloaded senses and added to the headache building behind her eyes. Gods, she hated being sick. She took a drink of the tea, only to discover that it was cold. Sighing with displeasure, she lit up her hands and tried to warm her drink up quickly with her fire powers. It worked, luckily, and she didn’t set anything on fire for once, which she considered a victory.
Counting that as a win, she quickly extinguished the flames and took slow sips of her tea, letting the warm beverage soothe her sore throat. Then she set the empty cup down on the nightstand and laid back, pulling the covers over her head in an attempt to block out the world.
She drifted for a moment in between sleep and wakefulness when the bed moved. Gently the covers were pulled away from her, only to be replaced by a warm body behind her. She slammed her eyes shut tightly, worried that the light would trigger nausea.
“The light…” Keyleth said, her voice barely audible.
“It’s off, don’t worry,” Vax said softly. He pressed a kiss to the back of her neck and held her close. “Is this okay?” He asked gently, knowing that touch was just too much some nights.
Keyleth nodded. It was a bit different, as usually, she held him, but tonight she was grateful for the comfort. She felt terrible and wanted nothing more than to be comforted by the person she loved.
“You feel warm, Kiki.” Vax’s voice held a hint of worry.
“I think I have a fever. Stupid cold. I usually don’t get sick.” Keyleth suspected that she caught this particular bug from the class of children she had been teaching the past week. A few of them seemed to have runny noses and a cough. It was just her luck that she caught it, and Vax didn’t, especially since he had been right by her side.
Vax moved so that he had a hand on her belly. He gently drew small circles in the way he knew she liked and cast Lay on Hands simultaneously. He wasn’t sure if it would work, but he figured he would try it.
Keyleth felt the magic flow through her, leaving her with a warm feeling in her belly, and her headache lessened. She coughed, but she suspected that, too, would be gone by morning. Quietly she moved her hand over his and squeezed it as she settled deeper into his embrace.
“Thanks, Vax. Love you.”
He pressed another kiss to her neck, smiling as he could feel her skin begin to cool as the fever disappeared. He rested his head on her shoulder, sighing in relief that she was getting better. “It’s my honor. I love you too. Rest now.”
Keyleth quietly closed her eyes and soon drifted to healing sleep, held by her lover’s gentle embrace.
