it's so funny how romana's departure manages to come out of nowhere even after being set up over three serials. there's all these scenes like maybe me and the doctor will have to go separate ways and then at the very end of warrior's gate they're walking back to the tardis and she abruptly goes oh shit I forgot to divorce you.
I went to Warrior's Gate to get some more good photo references for Adric (a lot on Pinterest are blurry for some goddamn reason) and stumbled and tripped into a digital painting of one of the opening scenes where Biroc (the tharil time-sensitive lion guy) sees the Tardis.
Despite the technilogical limitations, this serial is very cinematic and tries to dig into a lot of cool ideas. It's s18 doctor who, so the execution could be a little richer and better, but it's a great watch I like coming back to. And this was very fun to draw :) been trying to dig into art more while on summer break. (i LOVE the brush I found in FireAlpaca. If you use the program look for "Faint watercolor flat brush" in the brush store. It works wonders with a lil hue jitter)
Photo reference (I did a lot of color picking here lmao. colors are Hard. I'm no art wizard, fret not):
Has Tom Baker ever tripped on his gloriously dumb scarf on set? That thing is simultaneously a choking AND a tripping hazard. If so I need pics.
(Feel free to draw a pic of him tripping on the scarf in character if you like)
He has! I believe he trips on it in The Invasion of Time.
The bad guy also strangles him with in it Warriors Gate.
It really can be quite the inconvenient piece of clothing, but might just be worth it for the fashion statement;)
Here's your photo evidence:
