one of our church worship leader talks about God's message to her few hours before the devastating earthquake with the epicenter at Bohol, magnitude of 7.2
In our sharing about the earthquake that happened on early Tuesday morning at around 8:00, October 15, our worship leader shared about God waking her up at 4:00 am on the same day impressing her to read in the Bible that contains the message and warning about Idolatry, she asked the Lord about the meaning and found herself starting to pray for protection specifically her husband's family in Bohol. After praying, she went to sleep again and was woken up by her husband telling her of the earthquake. She secured their baby and prayed with her husband. The quake stopped after what seemed like one minute.
Hearing her story and the others about what happened leads to one thing, the quake has a message. Having found that mostly churches with stone monuments and images were the ones that are greatly damaged, others really collapsed, the message would lead to one thing, the warning against IDOLATRY.
As found in the Bible, God's first commandment , found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5:
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
“You shall have no other gods before me.
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
"WORSHIP THE CREATOR, NOT THE CREATION. ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO DIED FOR HIS GLORY WERE JUST INSTRUMENTS. THE GLORY IS FOR GOD AND GOD ALONE."
