wild to me that the astartes chasing the ithakas dynasty were a blood angels successor chapter's death company so they had the black rage meaning they were completely lost reimagining sanguinius death forever in their mind. so they're permanently disassociating in a psychotic episode.
their status was implicitly a parallel to oltyx's flayer curse but the only member who doesn't have the black rage is the chaplain, and in this case the champlain was the member that fought oltyx more than any other astartes. the only neurotypical asshole was the one pushing harder to kill her.
that is the explanation why they had a ship specifically for astartes. the blood angels who have fallen to the black rage have to be as isolated as possible from other humans, or else they might attack them. there's even more poignancy when you read their wiki and it turns out the angels encarmine have a black rage problem.
it's all about the imperium of man isolates, squeezes then throws away its mentally ill combatants just as much as necrons do, and it's poignant that the final assault began just after oltyx had condemned yenekh.
