‘ i don’t want to be overdramatic, but today felt like 100 years in hell and the absolute worst day of my life. ’ -- @warfelled
she didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. he was safe, he was safe, and obi-wan was safe and that was all that mattered to her. it was so selfish, she knew it. but for everything they all had done trying to stop the sith it had been too late. the jaws of the trap had already closed around them by the time they started to try and defend themselves from palpatine. they just hadn’t realized it.
the small victories now, felt like the only ones that mattered. sabé had caught an order to arrest the 2000 senators who had stood against palpatine. padmé had been able to send off a quick warning before she fled. there hadn’t even been time to pack, she had simply taken threepio and ran aboard her ship.
if she hadn’t, she might be in jail now instead of out on polis massa. tucked away in the outer rim. she longed for naboo, but bail had assured her the space station out in the astroid field would be safe. and it had a medical facility. just in case.
she had already been ordered to bedrest, which was not as relaxing as the emdee droids thought it was.
“i’m afraid i’m about to make it worse my love,” she said, reaching one hand out as if she could touch his grainy face through the holo. “i had to leave courscant. flee, really. the supreme chancellor started arresting the senators that stood up against him. and …” she paused a moment, closing her eyes for a moment. tears slipped down her cheeks, there was no good news. she wished there were, “i saw the temple as i was leaving, it was on fire. i am so sorry anakin. if you and obi-wan return to courscant you have to be careful. i’m hearing whispers that he’s going to give the order for the remaining jedi to be hunted and executed.”
