while he is not naturally a morning person, he's become very good at getting up early and can usually do it no problem when it's necessary. which is almost always for school-related reasons. he's always been studious and taken school seriously, so when he was in high school he was always waking up before hank to get ready. this also provided him some peace & quiet where he didn't have to worry about his brother picking on him or calling him a nerd for trying to read so taking advantage of that time was worth the having to drag himself up an hour or two earlier. here, the first thing he does in the morning is brush his teeth (it wakes him up) then finish getting ready for school. after he's ready and had breakfast, any free time is spent for reading or whatever activity, but being prepared for the day is most important. usually he's up by 6 if he has to be at school by 8.
in college, he's getting up early only if he has a morning class that he has to attend. having been a superhero for quite a few years now, getting those precious extra hours to sleep in is really a gift that he'll take advantage of whenever he can. same thing with summer or winter breaks from school. if he has no reason to be up before 9/10 then he won't be. it's summer vacation and he has all afternoon to study and read if he wants to, so there's less pressure to wake up early if he wants to make the most of his day.
and then there are some days when he hasn't slept well or is having a particularly bad depression day where it's just super difficult for him to get up. usually this is after a bad night out of being dove or when things went in a way that he doesn't feel happy or proud of, but not exclusively, and typically he'll be up at 6 but it might take him a whole hour if he's lucky to convince himself to get out of his bed.
