Itto shiftily takes something out of his pocket and places a statue of the Raiden Shogun into the palm of the traveler, "Please don't tell that bird woman I took this. I just really need to get rid of the evidence and I know they won't get that mad at you."
Give my muse an item and see how they react!
"You took this...from Sara?"
A puzzled look was given to the Oni as she tried her best to figure out why he would gamble with his own life like that. The two of them were already not on the best terms to begin with, yet he somehow insisted to do anything within his power to upset her even more.
A heavy sigh fell from the blonde lips as she shook her head in disappointment, eyes darting down towards the statue.
"Look, she is not the type of person you want to prank. These are very important to her after all. She might not have noticed it is gone yet though, so I would try to quietly put it back and pretend none of this ever haーー"
Looking back up, she came to the horrifying conclusion that Itto was no longer there. The bastard had made a run for it and now she had to fix his mistakes.
( That little...Well, he's not little but you get the point...!! )
What now? Does she attempt to sneak it back into Sara's quarters without her noticing? Or does she simply give it back and explain the situation? She could always come up with some kind of excuse - like having found it laying around somewhere without knowing the original culprit.
( Itto you're gonna owe me so much for saving your sorry ass!! )
Kujo Tengu! I hope your day today has been filled with good times and good news! Haha! Cause that would really help me out… Alright, I’ll come clean. I’m sure you have noticed that lately you have noticed that one of your statues of raiden or whatever is of much higher quality than the others. Well, hehe, that is because I Arataki “The best potter in the whole wide flat world” Itto, made an artisanal masterpiece out of nearby dirt and clay to replace one that I accidentally bumped into that broke.
But stop your fretting cause here is a new one! I was told by the antique seller that this one went out of production a looong time ago and that’s why it cost me an arm, a leg, a tooth, and a looot of mora. I don’t know why you are so interested in all these statues, but I do gotta say, I think it is pretty cool how you are so interested and invested into these kinds of things. Though I think your time would be better spent building a TCG deck so I have another thing I could totally kick your bird butt in!
Anyway, I have been writing a lot and my hand is starting to cramp so I am going to end it here. I really do hope you have a good birthday and spend time with people who cherish you and not spend your time arresting me).
A sigh, hand rising to pinch the bridge of her nose as she folded a piece of paper that had arrived attached to an older model of the Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder.
Sara had, in fact, long noticed the stark difference between Itto’s… artistic imitation of the statue he’d put in place of Sara’s original collection and the real one, and promptly got rid of it. It was difficult not to notice when it was made of nothing but pure dirt and poor-quality clay. As a matter of fact, it should have been a crime in it itself to claim that it was a copy of the Statue of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder when it looked more closer to a blob. A tanuki’s dung, even.
But she had spared him for his transgressions then, if only because there were more pressing matters at hand. And yet, this damn oni, as if he were born to do nothing but disturb her peace, had come once more with another peace offering.
Carefully, she took the statue out from the box, inspecting every side for imperfections before finally turning it upside down and—
Just as she suspected, it was a fake.
Not only that, it was a fake of a model long deemed forgotten, and so its attempts at recreating it had been rather… Poor, to say the least. For example, the nose on the statue was angled oddly. The Shogun’s fringe was of the wrong length, and the patterns on the kimono were incorrect. The Almighty Shogun’s hair ornament should be on the right, not left, and the katana’s guard had the wrong design.
Sara heaved out another heavy sigh.
Before turning around to set the statue on the shelf, anyway, together with the rest of her Statues of Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogosho, God of Thunder.
She will spare him for now. If only because the mora he had spent purchasing this poor imitation copy should be punishment enough. Tomorrow, she will hunt him down to ask for the antique seller’s details, however. Fraudulent merchants must be dealt with, after all.
