I know it's based mostly on personal preference, but I'm curious as to you and others generally hold a wand. I've taken to making some simple wands, and would like to make sure my handles are accommodating to different grip styles, if ever I should part with them.
Personally, I tend to hold my main wand sorta like a remote, but I've one for sigilwork/warding I hold more like a pencil, just with my fingers extended along the handle.
It depends. I have two and my grip varies because....well, one of them is a wooden spoon.
Generally, I tend to hold them like you'd hold a chef's knife, with the fingers and thumb wrapped around the end of the handle and the forefinger laying along it for balance. But if I'm using the spoon wand, it might just as easily be held in a fist for purposes of stirring a pot or swatting away clots of nasty-feeling energy that get stuck in the corners.
I don't think there's a "wrong" way to hold a wand, really. It's just whatever works best for your purposes.
does this--is ron-- um, what kind of wandwork are we referring to, exactly?

just before the holidays, i had the chance to go pick up a very special gift from me to myself. after months of looking on and off for the perfect wand, and right when i was getting ready to settle for "close enough," i had the good fortune to meet the wonderful pair over at @greyhedge1 who were kind enough to work with me on a custom design 😍 i am very much looking forward to all the work we're going to be able to do together both this year and for many more years to come. #witchesofinstagram #witchblr #wandwork #wandmaking #walnut #amethyst #rosequartz #crystalwitch #thisissolate #pickingupmyglassesremindedmeihadntpostedit (at Etobicoke) https://www.instagram.com/p/BseZqvDHg-M/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1g9ng6oa04u8r

I commissioned a wand at the fair today, and I'm a little scared bc they didn't have a price estimate for me, but I'm just so excited agh.
