Wanderwoods started as Enderians, but they welcome anyone who wishes to join.

As for how it came to be…well. They’re Wanderers. They kind of stumbled upon it and went “ah yes, this looks perfect.” Wanderers are a patient people, willing to wait until they find the perfect place or perfect thing…and if they can’t, they’ll move on until they do.

I would say it’s a fairly new kingdom, so it doesn’t have the rich history of Rivendell or one of the others. The conflict with Xornoth might very well be the first significant thing to happen to the Wanderwoods.

Religion is something I haven’t thought of much…it’s probably some mishmash of Aeor and the Vigil and other things they’ve picked up from traveling around the other Empires so much.

Man, I haven’t talked about Wanderwoods in forever. Gotta pull it down from the metaphorical mind shelf and blow off all the dust.

Fact:

Paige loves medical drama shows but absolutely cannot see real or fake blood without feeling sick and maybe throwing up. She usually works around it by putting them on while she’s sewing and just listening to the dialogue. But sometimes she’ll rope Madelyn into watching them with her so Mads can tell her when the bloody parts are over and it’s safe to open her eyes. 

A a kid Cy would run around on rooftops for fun and climb trees when he needed a alone time, and the thought of falling never crossed his mind. After the invasion of Wan, though, he developed a crippling fear of heights. Compared to losing his home and family it was a small thing -- but still a little piece of himself, and he misses it. 

Max has been using the same backpack since he was six years old. It’s blue and white and covered in colorful cartoon dinosaurs.

12. Is slow to anger

Madelyn! Anger at other people makes an error message pop up in her brain, which automatically redirects the anger into regret and self-blame.

(i.e. ERROR: You seem to be trying to get mad at someone. Have you checked to make sure this isn’t your fault?)

Max! Even though he sometimes goes weeks without seeing another human person, he’s always ready to read the riot act.

Madelyn. She talks so much sometimes, but–she’s not always great at communicating. You know? 

5. Has no off-switch

Yep!! That’s why it’s in there honestly

Basically there are two towns in the Wanderwoods: 

- the one where the founders settled and their descendants live, which has now been taken over by an evil pharmacist

(I took a super long time to respond because I'm still doing my Chapter 1 patchwork/rewrite and I hadn’t gotten to page 7 yet. But here it is!)

“Maddie, I don’t want to talk about this.”

I swallowed another apology. “Okay.”

I didn’t understand Paige’s parents. Her life during the school year was tight smiles and terror, cramming homework, studying, student council, and piano into too-few hours in a too-short week. This wasn’t the first time I’d seen her cry. 

How could they look at all her hard work and say it just wasn’t good enough?
