cornelius was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth like other princes might have. but he had influence. from the minute he was born, the rest of the fey court thought his life brought them something good. winter thawed the second he was born and everyone believed that was a good sign. he was unruly though with a bit of a wild streak in his youth.

he was the type to sneak out of the court in the middle of the night and go watch humans or explore the forest with his friends. it wasn't that he was ever irresponsible when he was out, but he did toe the line about going too far.

the night that he met thalia he felt himself relaxing just a little. there were still mysteries in the world, still unexplainable piece of the world he thought he knew. at the time he thought that it was love, though it was only curiosity. when he saved her and brought her to the vale, she grew wings and cornelius knew he was right.

but then the rot started happening and cornelius was pressured to bind with thalia which he wasn't even sure he wanted to do. while a part of him broke when thalia left, another part of him felt a sigh of relief. still, cornelius decided to be the one to leave and find a solution to the rot.

since arriving in elias the underland, cornelius has been wandering around, looking for answers. he doesn’t want his light to dim, though the shadows take, every day he feels his light diminish. but if he has to be the collateral damage to save the vale, that’s what he’ll become.

future :

cornelius will eventually come to realize that he never loved thalia. the binding probably wouldn’t have worked, their marriage would have been doomed from the start. adoration and affection are different than love. hopefully one day he’ll experience that but it’s up in the air. for now, he’s making deals in shady alleys with sketchy people.
