THE WALKING GREEN
I love walking. I usually spend 1 to 2 hours of my time walking and finding my way home without the help of any global positioning system (GPS). After every walk, I alwaysfeel like I was able to release all the stress that my body is holding on.
When did this habit started? At a very young age, I have developed this habit of instead of taking a public transportation; I would rather walkhome alone. I don’t know why, maybe because I am saving my money to buy a new toy, or maybe simply because on my way home I would pass by my classmate’s house and wish that I can see a glimpse of her inside through their window. This walking habit continues until I graduated high school. When I entered college, this habit became more frequent as the school I went to have a cool environment that is suitable for running and walking. As time goes by, I just noticed that great ideas come to my mind when I am walking. Most of my life’s endeavors, I solved it also while walking.
Right now, I am in a country where the government have an advocacy for physical fitness. Roads are pedestrian and bicycle friendly. That is why if I have time I will still prefer walking than riding the bus. The good thing now is that I do this not mainly because I want to release my stress, but also because of my present job as a landscape designer wherein we design outdoor environments- it is like hitting two birds in one stone.
