Oliver didn’t have a good day at school. It had been fine until lunch when a group of boys didn’t let her play rugby simply because of her gender. Comments like that didn’t upset her but they did make her angry when she knew there were other girls that wanted to play as well (they ended up playing their own game but that wasn’t the point). She was planning to sneak up to her room and hoped that her father would be distracted by Robert if he had been home expect - “where are you going?”
She stopped and walked into the kitchen, “you know I like hearing about how school went.” Her father said as she assumed correctly Robert was here as well as they both waited for her reply, “…. I mean you don’t have too if you don’t want too.”
His hesitation made her feel a little guilty, he was younger compared to any other dad that she saw at school but he was better than most of them. He taught music at the community center and she was extremely proud to be related to him, “I got into a argument with some of the boys at school because they said girls can’t play rugby.”
“Did you punch them in the nose?” Robert interrupted, “or was it a dub to the family jewels with your knee.”
“Robert!” Greyson scold, “she did neither of those things.”
“Yeah but next time I will.” She replied as he bumped her knuckles gently against Robert’s when he held his own hand up, “boys like that shouldn’t get away with saying stuff like that.”
“I know but they aren’t worth getting in trouble for either.” Her father answered as she caught him shooting Robert a not so amused look.
“I’ll intimidate them for you if you want.”
“That’s not necessary thanks for helping me both of you but I think Waldo needs a walk.” At the mention of his name Waldo ran into the room, sliding along the floor. “Want to come with me?” They both agreed immediately.
